Liberty by the Lake setfor July 1 @ Five StarJoin us for a weekend of family fun as we celebrate America's freedom and the Fourth of July at the 26th annual Liberty by the Lake festival! This year's event features great food, fireworks, live music, and more, and will be held starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at The Colony Five Star Complex, 4100 Blair Oaks Drive. Other activities that day include: - The day's celebration kicks off in the morning with the Liberty 5K/10K/1M race at Stewart Creek Park, 3700 Sparks Road. This is a family event for participants of all ages and abilities. Get registered today!
- Then comes the Independence Day Parade! The parade theme this year is Texas Legends. The parade starts at 11:30 a.m. The route will start at Peters Colony Elementary School and head west along Nash Drive; turn south on Blair Oaks; then finish at The Colony High School teachers' parking lot. To register for the parade, please complete a form online.

 And the winner is ...Congratulations! The Chevy Tahoe assigned to TCPD's School Resource Officer at The Colony High School recently won first place in the Non-ISD category of the 2023 Texas’ Best Police Unit Contest. The competition was part of the Texas School Safety Conference in San Antonio. Way to go, TCPD!

What else is In THE News?- The public is invited to attend and provide input during the next meeting of the city's Keep The Colony Beautiful Board. KTCB meets at 6 p.m. the last Thursday of each month at City Hall, 6800 Main St.
- During its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 20, The Colony City Council voted to cancel the City Council meeting on July 5 due to the Fourth of July holiday.
- Don't forget: Annual weather conditions have necessitated continued implementation of Phase 1 of the City's Drought Contingency Plan (PDF). Residents are encouraged to follow a twice weekly watering schedule determined by your address. Visit www.TheColonyTx.gov/water (PDF) for more information.
