Coach Cox's Kids Chase this weekend at Stewart Creek ParkThe Colony Parks and Recreation Department and The Colony Roadrunners Club present the 22nd annual Coach Cox's Kids Chase! The event is set for Saturday, April 22, at Stewart Creek Park (3700 Sparks Road). Children ages 9 and under will compete in a half-mile race, while children ages 10-12 run a 1-mile course on the shores of beautiful Lewisville Lake. All participants will receive a ribbon and goody bag. T-shirts guaranteed to first 100 registered participants. No event-day registration. Packet pick up will be between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday, April 20, and Friday, April 21, at The Colony Recreation Center, 5151 North Colony Blvd. Any packets not picked up will be available on race day.  Firehouse No. 5 grand opening May 13The community is invited to celebrate the grand opening of the city's newest fire station, TCFD Firehouse No. 5 in The Tribute, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at 3985 Lebanon Road. Come checkout the ceremonial hose-uncoupling and pushing-in ceremony for Engine No. 15. See you there!

 TCPD Drug Takeback event this SaturdayThe Colony Police Department will be on-hand from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, at The Colony High School (4301 Blair Oaks Drive) to take un-used/expired prescription medications to be disposed of by the Drug Enforcement Agency. What else is In THE News?- During its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 18, The Colony City Council approved a contract in the amount of $134,410 with Restroom Facilities Ltd. for the purchase and installation of restroom facilities at Kids Colony Splash Park, with funding provided by the CDC.
- Also on Tuesday, April 18, the City Council approved a construction services contract in the amount of $2.35 million with Aushill Construction LLC for the Squires Drive paving, Vance Street paving and Vaden Street 8-inch waterline extension.
- Visit historic Bridges Cemetery with the springtime flowers in bloom! Designated with a historical marker by the Texas Historical Commission in 2018, the cemetery predates the city of The Colony by more than 100 years. A tour, guided by members of the Local History Committee, will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, and the cemetery gates will remain open to the public until noon, weather permitting. Bridges Cemetery is located at the northwest corner of Morning Star and Chesapeake drives in The Colony.
- The Colony Police Department will be hosting a Teen Academy on June 26-30. In the Teen Academy, teens will hang out with School Resource Officers and Community Resources Officers while they participate in bowling, fishing, biking and swimming. Teens will also participate in classes about topics such as cyberbullying, dating violence, and more. The program is completely free and open to all teens of The Colony. Space is limited.
