Spring Clean-Up set for April 15

The City of The Colony and Republic Waste Services will be hosting the annual Citywide Spring Clean-Up from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15, in the parking lot of Hawaiian Waters (formerly Hawaiian Falls Water Park), 4400 Paige Road. Residents of The Colony may bring trash and refuse, such as large tree limbs, furniture, appliances, lumber, remodeling debris, fencing materials and scrap metal for convenient disposal.

Additionally, the following items also will be collected: small truck, car or SUV tires; batteries of all types; and electronics including computer CPUs, monitors, printers, related computer parts and supplies, DVD players, CD players, TVs and copiers. The city is limiting the number of tires a resident can bring to eight total, with no large truck or tractor tires accepted. The city also is limiting the number of TVs and monitors to four.

Other services available at the Clean-Up include removal of Freon from appliances and shredding for residents that have confidential documents that need to be destroyed. Visit our website for more details or call us at 972-624-3131.

Registration underway for Coach Cox's Kids Chase

The Colony Parks and Recreation Department and The Colony Roadrunners Club present the 22nd annual Coach Cox's Kids Chase, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Stewart Creek Park. Children ages 9 and under will compete in a half-mile race, while children ages 10-12 run a 1-mile course on the shores of beautiful Lewisville Lake. All participants will receive a ribbon and goody bag. T-shirts guaranteed to first 100 registered participants. No event-day registration. Packet pick up will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 20, and Friday, April 21, at The Colony Recreation Center, 5151 North Colony Blvd., The Colony. Bridges Cemetery open house set for April 22

History on display April 22 at Bridges Cemetery

Visit historic Bridges Cemetery with the springtime flowers in bloom! Designated with a historical marker by the Texas Historical Commission in 2018, the cemetery predates the city of The Colony by more than a hundred years. A tour, guided by members of the Local History Committee, will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and the cemetery gates will remain open to the public until noon, weather permitting. Bridges Cemetery is located at the northwest corner of Morning Star and Chesapeake drives in The Colony.

TCPD Teen Academy in June

The Colony Police Department will be hosting a Teen Academy on June 26-30. In the Teen Academy, teens will hang out with School Resource Officers and Community Resources Officers while they participate in bowling, fishing, biking and swimming. Teens will also participate in classes about topics such as cyberbullying, dating violence, and more. The program is completely free and open to all teens of The Colony. Space is limited. Ground broken on West Shore Park

West Shore Park construction plans were finalized and sent out for bid in December of 2022. The contract was awarded to L.J. Design & Construction, which broke ground in the first quarter of this year. The park in Eastvale is being developed with a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and includes inclusive play areas, playgrounds for two age groups, as well as other amenities. The park's design includes a berm wall with a slide element, a covered pavilion, open lawn spaces, and a picnic area. These features will provide opportunities for children and families to enjoy outdoor activities and social gatherings while prioritizing inclusivity, allowing kids of all abilities to play and interact with one another. KTCB hosts clean-up event at Turner Fields on April 1

On Saturday, April 1, the city's Keep The Colony Beautiful Board hosted a clean-up event at The Colony Five Star Complex and the Turner Soccer Fields. Many thanks to the dozens of students from local schools who turned out to participate. Thanks also to partners Next Steps-The Colony, which was awarded a generous grant from Aramark in support of the event. #KTCB #TidyUpTC

#Traffic: Starting April 10, the Texas Department of Transportation, which owns and operates FM 423 (Main Street in The Colony), will be making various repairs along the roadway between State Highway 121 and Lebanon Road. City offices, facilities, and the library will be closed Friday, April 7, for the Good Friday holiday. The library will be closed April 7-10. No delays to trash/recycling collection due to the holiday. Thank you!
