Celebrate The Fourth in The Colony!Join us for a weekend of family fun as we celebrate the birth of America’s freedom at the 25th annual Liberty By the Lake festival on Saturday, July 2, at The Colony Five Star Complex! - We kick off the celebration in the morning with the Liberty 5K/10K/1M race at Stewart Creek Park, 3700 Sparks Road.
- The annual Independence Day Parade hits the road at 11:30 a.m., running from Peters Colony Elementary School west on Nash to Blair Oaks, then south to Five Star (4100 Blair Oaks).
- The festival opens at 6 p.m. in the evening, when we'll finish the festivities with a concert, food vendors, rides, and the best fireworks in North Texas!

 Aloha! Mark your calendars for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, as the community is invited to join The Colony City Council and Community Development Corp. for the much-awaited grand opening celebration of the new splash park at Kids Colony Park. Put on your festive luau attire and come have a splashing good time! Snacks and drinks will be provided. Kids Colony Park is at 5151 North Colony Blvd. Overflow parking will be available next door at Griffin Middle School or at the adjacent baseball/softball practice complex. What else is In THE News?- During its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 21, The Colony City Council appointed Detrick DeBurr to the Planning & Zoning Commission, and Mark Kiernan to the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board.
- The Council also discussed formation of a new committee to evaluate and make recommendations regarding the Stewart Creek Park Master Plan.
- The City Council meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, has been cancelled in light of the Fourth of July holiday.
- Denton County is seeking public input for an update to its Hazard Mitigation Plan, which includes The Colony. Public input will help the project team to analyze potential hazards affecting residents. Click here for the online survey.
