Summer Kickoff set for June 4

Join The Colony Public Library, Parks & Recreation, and the Convention & Visitors Bureau for a spectacular kickoff to summer! The fun starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Lions Club Park (4800 Nash Drive). This family-friendly event will feature over-sized yard games, giveaways, a special Spice Club Kit, StoryWalk®, crafts, fishing activities, treats, food trucks, information on upcoming special events in The Colony, free ice cream and more! Firehouse No. 5 taking shape

Check out the construction progress at The Colony Firehouse No. 5! Foundations and roadways are nearly completed, with metalwork scheduled to begin this week. The Firehouse is located in The Tribute on Lebanon Road, across from Strike Middle School. Click for more photos.

City again named Gold Star affiliate

We're excited to share the news that the City of The Colony has again been recognized as a Gold Star Affiliate by Keep Texas Beautiful. Only 86 of KTB's nearly 300 affiliates earned this recognition, which is the highest status any community affiliate can achieve. Click the photo for more information.

Neighbors helping neighbors

In January, TCPD Officer Miles Outon was dispatched to an address in The Colony for a resident having a medical emergency. Officer Outon arrived on scene and immediately began life-saving efforts, including CPR. TCFD paramedics soon arrived and transported the resident to the hospital. Larry Cummings survived and was able to meet Officer Outon in person recently. Miles and Larry are practically neighbors, as their houses are two streets apart. We extend our gratitude to Officer Outon for his dedication and service to this community!

Dog Dayz Carnival supports TCAS

Join The Colony Animal Services (TCAS) starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at The Truck Yard for an all-day event featuring great food and great fun, with select proceeds benefitting TCAS. Sandcastles & Storytime is back!

Join The Colony Parks & Recreation Department from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Stewart Creek Park for a morning of fun and relaxation. Build your magnificent sand castles while listening to storytime and songs. Prizes will be awarded for the best sand castles. Bring your own sand-castle building tools or borrow some of ours. This all-ages event is FREE for those with an annual pass to Stewart Creek Park. Other attendees will need to pay the daily park entry fee of $10/resident; $15/non-resident. Remembering those we've lost

In 2022, May 11-17 was National Police Week, while May 15 was Peace Officers Memorial Day. A memorial service was held last week at the Denton County Amphitheater and Memorial Park. Lt. Matthew Winnett represented The Colony Police Department and honored TCPD Sgt. David Fitzpatrick, who died in the line of duty on June 10, 2019. May we never forget.

What else is In THE News?

City offices, facilities, and the library will be closed Monday, May 30, for the Memorial Day holiday. The library will be closed May 28-30. There will be no delays to trash/recycling collection.
The Colony Aquatic Park, however, will be open for Public Swim from 1 to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day. No coolers allowed, please! Summer Public Swim hours begin on Saturday, May 28. Visit our website for more information or call 972-624-2225.
Early voting for the May 24 Primary Election Runoffs is underway now through Friday, May 20. The polls across Denton County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters may cast ballots at any early voting location. The FCC has launched the Affordable Connectivity Program for qualifying households, which is a benefit program that helps ensure households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, and more. It provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households. Click here for more information.
The City of The Colony is currently accepting applications for city boards. Board members are appointed by the City Council to serve in a volunteer capacity.
