Kids Chase this Saturday

The Colony Parks and Recreation Department and The Colony Roadrunners Club are proud to present the 21st annual Coach Cox's Kids Chase, set for 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Stewart Creek Park (3700 Sparks Road).

Children ages 9 and under will compete in a half-mile race, while children ages 10-12 run a 1-mile course on the shores of beautiful Lewisville Lake. All participants will receive a ribbon and goody bag. T-shirts guaranteed to first 100 registered participants. No event-day registration.

Packet pick up will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 21, and Friday, April 22, at The Colony Recreation Center, 5151 North Colony Blvd. Any packets not picked up will be available on race day. For more information, contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 972-625-1106.

TCPL honors Volunteers of the Year

During The Colony City Council meeting on April 5, Library Director Megan Charters (at right) presented the 2021 James W. Althaus Volunteer of the Year award to former director Joan L. Sveinsson (center). The Volunteer of the Year for 2020, Samantha Aguirre (at left), was also recognized. Thank you both for all you do for The Colony Public Library!

This weekend is the state's sales-tax holiday for emergency preparedness supplies. It's a great opportunity to put together an emergency kit in the event of severe weather. Check it out!

Career Day @ BB Owen Elementary

We had a great time at the BB Owen Elementary Career Day on April 11! Staff from Public Works, Police Department, Animal Services, and Parks & Recreation were thrilled to spend time with the kids and teach them about the vehicles we use on the job. City Council recognizes Girl Scout Troop

A huge thanks to Girl Scouts Troop #8401 for their recent service project at The Colony's Pawsome Playground dog park, where they installed new agility equipment for the four-legged members of our community. Great job, girls!

During its most recent regular meeting on Tuesday, April 19, The Colony City Council approved a Site Plan application for a new restaurant in Grandscape called Portillo's Hot Dogs.

The City of The Colony is currently accepting applications for city boards. Board members are appointed by the City Council to serve in a volunteer capacity. Applications are being accepted in the City Secretary’s Office for open positions at this time. Contact the City Secretary for more information.
