Hours of operation set
for tool-lending program

The city’s Community Image Department launched a tool-lending program in 2019 called, The Colony Cares, in which residents may checkout a variety of common home-improvement tools for use on their property – completely FREE of charge! Up to now, the program has been offered on an as-needed basis but starting this Thursday, April 7, a staffer will be available during set hours to assist residents in checking out and returning tools from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursdays in the parking lot adjacent to Fire Station No. 2 at 5571 North Colony Blvd. Signs have been placed in the lot informing residents where to park. Spring Clean-Up is almost here

The City-Wide Spring Clean-Up is set for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16, in the parking lot of Hawaiian Falls (4400 Paige Road). Residents of The Colony may bring trash and refuse, such as tree limbs, furniture, appliances & more, for convenient disposal. Click the photo for all the details or call 972-624-3131.

Council proclaims Child Abuse Prevention Month

At the City Council meeting on April 5, 2022, Mayor Richard Boyer presented CASA of Denton County with a proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in The Colony, commending the more than 250 volunteers in Denton County for their work advocating for children during difficult times. Be cautious at parks, on trails

After this week's very heavy rains, many of our parks, trails and playgrounds have standing water and/or damages resulting from the water. The Colony Parks & Recreation staff encourages you to please use caution when visiting these parks and trails, and avoid areas that need repairs. Parks crews are working to make all needed repairs as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience!

It’s National Library Week! This week highlights the essential role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Connect with Your Library,” which promotes the idea that libraries, outside of books, are places to connect with technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources. What else is In THE News?

During the regular meeting on Tuesday, April 5, The Colony City Council approved a construction services contract in the amount of $4.2 million with Urban Infraconstruction for the Phase 11 Residential Street Reconstruction Project. The project includes Tucker Street (from Taylor to Tyler); Miller Drive (from south of Keller Circle to Slay Drive); and Bartlett Drive (from Clover Valley to Miller). Work includes reconstruction of the roadways along with new water and sewer lines, and new stormwater drains and street lights.

Coffee with a Cop is back! The Colony Police officers will be at Turbo Coffee in Austin Ranch (5808 Windhaven Pkwy., Ste. 200) from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9. Come out and have some coffee with TCPD.
City offices, facilities, and the library will be closed Friday, April 15, for the Good Friday holiday. The library will be closed April 15-18. There will be NO delays to trash/recycling collection due to the holiday.
