Christmas in The Colony continues!

The Colony Christmas Spectacular Lightshow is underway now through Jan. 2, 2022, at Perryman Park, 4930 South Colony Blvd, across from Central Fire Station on Blair Oaks. The show is choreographed to music and can be seen every evening from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tune your radio to 99.9FM to enjoy the music! Volunteers sought for city boards, commissions

The City of The Colony is currently accepting applications for city boards. Board members are appointed by the City Council to serve in a volunteer capacity. Applications are being accepted in the City Secretary’s Office for open positions at this time. As we prepare for the Christmas holidays, our partners at Republic Services remind us of what can and can't be recycled. Click the photo for more tips!

Christmas tree recycling Dec. 26 thru Jan. 9

Residents wishing to drop off their Christmas trees for recycling may begin doing so Dec. 26, 2021, continuing through Jan. 9, 2022. The tree-recycling site is at the south end of the Public Services parking lot off of East Lake Highlands Drive, across from the Animal Shelter. Signs will be posted directing residents to the site. Trees must have all lights, ornaments, tinsel and bases removed. No artificial or flocked trees. Free compost will be available sometime in the spring on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring your own containers. Additional compost may also be available later in the year. For information, call Environmental Services at 972-624-3131.

'I Believe in Santa Paws'

City offices, facilities, and the library will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 24, for the Christmas holiday. The library will be closed Dec. 23-27. There will be NO delays to trash/recycling collection this week, as Christmas Day itself falls on a Saturday.

What else is In THE News?

The Colony Police Department warns that package theft increases this time of year. One solution is to have your package delivered to an Amazon locker if possible. The Colony has two Circle K locations with theses lockers: 6801 Main and 5621 South Colony. Other ways to prevent package theft: Require a signature for delivery; deliver to your job; deliver to a friend or neighbor who is home; or, steal your own package before the thief does.
For the fifth-straight election cycle, The Colony Place 4 City Councilmember David Terre (pictured) has been elected to serve on the Denton County Appraisal District’s (DCAD) board of directors. Terre received the most votes of all nominees. Read more on the city's website.
