Reed structure fire July 2021

TCFD responds to structure fires

Just before 5 p.m. Monday, July 12, The Colony Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 5100 block of Reed (pictured). Occupants evacuated safely and there were no injuries reported. Scene was cleared by 7 p.m. An accidental grease fire in the kitchen is believed to be the cause. Just after noon on Friday, July 9, TCFD responded to a residential structure fire in the 4000 block of Lemmon Court. An investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office determined this fire to be caused by arson and a suspect has been arrested. Officials wish to emphasize that the two fires are unrelated.

Outdoor warning siren

What else is In THE News?

  • On July 15, The Colony Fire Department completed relocation of the outdoor warning siren previously at the intersection of South Colony & Memorial to the city's water-tower site on Chesapeake Drive. The move was necessary because the land for the previous location had changed hands. There will be no change, however, to the siren's effective coverage from the new location. Visit the Outdoor Warning Siren page of our website for more information.
  • The Colony City Council will hold its General Election for at-large city council districts on Nov. 2, 2021. This year, the Mayor and Places 1 and 2 are up for election for three-year terms. The at-large city council members represent the city as a whole and voters are eligible to vote in all three races. The candidate filing period is underway now through Aug. 16. Contact The Colony City Secretary's Office or visit our website for more information.
  • Contractors recently began work on the reconstruction of John Yates Drive between Nash and Strickland. In addition to reconstructing the street with reinforced concrete pavement, the project includes new sidewalk and driveway returns within rights-of-way, and new storm drains, water/wastewater mains and street lights as needed. This section of John Yates is part of the city's Phase 9 Street Reconstruction project, which also includes reconstruction of Marsh Drive between Hendrix and Paige, as well as fresh asphalt overlays on several streets in Eastvale. Please drive safe in work zones!
