Liberty Run presented by AT&T, fireworks highlight annual festival

Join us for a weekend of family fun as we celebrate the birth of America’s freedom at the 24th annual Liberty by the Lake festival! Here's what you need to know:

  • Saturday, July 3: Liberty 5K/10K/1M race presented by AT&T at The Old American Clubhouse, 1000 Lebanon Road. Fun Run begins at 7:30 a.m.; 5K and 10K begin at 7:50 a.m. Register online!
  • Sunday, July 4: Live music, food vendors, and the best fireworks in North Texas at The Colony Five Star Complex, 4100 Blair Oaks Drive. Gates open at 6 p.m.; concert begins at 7 p.m.; fireworks begin approximately 9:30 p.m. On-site parking is available at Five Star; overflow parking is available at The Colony High School, 4301 Blair Oaks Drive.

TCPL Storytime @ Grandscape

Join The Colony Public Library at the Grandscape stage from 11:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 15, to enjoy a fun, under-the-sea themed storytime and sing-along. Stop by and hear some of your favorite fish tales and don’t forget to pick up a take-home craft and goodie bag after the event. The City of The Colony congratulates all those involved in making Grandscape the winner of D CEO's 2021 Best Retail, Entertainment or Hospitality Project. North Texas was one of the nation’s top commercial real estate markets in 2020, despite challenges, and the D CEO’s annual Commercial Real Estate Awards program illustrated this resilience. Fallen Officer remembered

On May 2, the name of former The Colony Police Sgt. David Fitzpatrick was added to the Texas Peace Officers Memorial Wall during the annual Texas Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony in Austin. Sgt. Fitzpatrick died while on duty after suffering a medical episode. He donated his organs and passed away on June 10, 2019. We honor your service and may you rest in peace.

What else is In THE News?

  • At its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 1, The Colony City Council approved a construction services contract in the amount of $1.1M for the reconstruction of Hendrix Drive from Knox to Paige. The project will include new storm drains, water and wastewater lines, and street lights.
  • The City of The Colony is currently accepting applications for city boards. Board members are appointed by the City Council to serve in a volunteer capacity. Applications for board positions will be accepted in the City Secretary’s Office for terms beginning July 1, 2021. Information on the boards and the application form are available on the city’s website or by contacting the City Secretary’s Office at 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas 75056, or via phone at 972-624-3105.
  • Still need a COVID-19 vaccine? Thanks to a program offered by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, residents may book a free mobile vaccine team to vaccinate your group of five or more people. This could be your yoga class, business, church, or family reunion. You pick the date, location, and time. Call 844-90-TEXAS (83927) to book a mobile vaccine team today!
  • Due to high water levels on Lewisville Lake, both the fishing pier and the courtesy dock at Stewart Creek Park are currently closed. Both amenities will be reopened as soon as lake levels drop enough to make for safe usage. Thank you for your patience!
