Covid-19 vaccine graphic

Vaccine waitlist diminishes

Progress has been made but public health officials continue to encourage the community to take steps to curb transmission of COVID-19 in North Texas. This includes social-distancing, wearing a mask in public, and getting vaccinated. Denton County Public Health has made great strides in working through its vaccine waitlist, having administered more than 330,000 vaccines so far - all of which are FREE of charge. Of the more than 500,000 people who have signed up, the number still awaiting an invitation is less than 1,000. Those still in need can sign-up today and possibly receive a vaccine as early as this week. To register or for information, visit the DCPH Vaccine Interest Portal or call 940-349-2585. We're still #InThisTogether!

The Colony Police Officers will be on hand to collect unused and expired prescription medications for safe disposal. Please note they cannot accept needles/sharps during this event. TCFD stroke scenario

Medical response recorded

The Colony Fire Department partnered with Texas Health Resources-Plano (THR) on April 19 at Central Firehouse on an educational video project. THR is producing a video for hospital staff and regional first-responders regarding the best practices for treatment of stroke patients, from dispatch to the operating room. TCFD personnel served as both the patient and responders in the video, the filming of which began in The Colony and concluded at the hospital. The City is proud of how The Colony Fire Department continues to represent the best of the best in North Texas! Click here for additional photos from the video-shoot.

Keeping the water flowing during crisis

#ICYMI: Many city staff went above and beyond throughout the community in response to the challenges of February's winter storm. But the heroes at the Water Production Department ensured residents still had an uninterrupted supply of safe, clean water during the crisis. Take a few minutes to check out this video that tells their story.

TCPL: By the Numbers

National Library Week and National Library Workers Day are both celebrated in April. They offer opportunities for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers, and is the perfect time to highlight the impact and value of TCPL in the community. The stats above speak for themselves. Contact your Library at www.TheColonyPL.org or by calling 972-625-1900.

Adopt A Street sign

Help beautify your community!

The City's Community Image Department encourages groups and/or organizations to consider adopting a stretch of local roadway for clean-up! Our Adopt-a-Street program allows service organizations, non-profits and/or businesses to adopt a street inside the city limits of The Colony for litter control. What else is In THE News

  • The new ownership at Hawaiian Falls in The Colony invites residents to check out all the new features planned for the 2021 season, which opens May 22! Upgrades include new furniture and more shade, a new bar area, remodeled restrooms, and more. See you there this summer!
  • On April 22, The Colony Fire Department will be relocating the outdoor warning siren currently located at the intersection of South Colony and Memorial to the city's water-tower site on Chesapeake Drive. Following relocation, contractors will perform two tests to ensure proper installation and operation - both of which will be 10- to 15-seconds in duration, sometime late afternoon. This move is necessary because the land for the current location has changed hands. There will be no change, however, to the siren's effective coverage from the new location.
  • #DYK? Residents may visit www.DonateStuff.com or call 1-866-835-5068 to schedule a pick-up of textiles for recycling! Previously, this was a curbside service with an automatic pick-up for textiles placed in "orange bags" on your normal trash day. Now, however, donations will need to be scheduled for pick-up.
  • Join The Colony Parks & Recreation on Friday, April 30, for a new take on Movies In The Park! Sit back, relax and enjoy the show on a large outdoor inflatable screen at The Colony Five Star Complex (4100 Blair Oaks) featuring a showing of The Croods 2.
