Vaccine waitlist diminishesProgress has been made but public health officials continue to encourage the community to take steps to curb transmission of COVID-19 in North Texas. This includes social-distancing, wearing a mask in public, and getting vaccinated. Denton County Public Health has made great strides in working through its vaccine waitlist, having administered more than 330,000 vaccines so far - all of which are FREE of charge. Of the more than 500,000 people who have signed up, the number still awaiting an invitation is less than 1,000. Those still in need can sign-up today and possibly receive a vaccine as early as this week. To register or for information, visit the DCPH Vaccine Interest Portal or call 940-349-2585. We're still #InThisTogether!

What else is In THE News- The new ownership at Hawaiian Falls in The Colony invites residents to check out all the new features planned for the 2021 season, which opens May 22! Upgrades include new furniture and more shade, a new bar area, remodeled restrooms, and more. See you there this summer!
- On April 22, The Colony Fire Department will be relocating the outdoor warning siren currently located at the intersection of South Colony and Memorial to the city's water-tower site on Chesapeake Drive. Following relocation, contractors will perform two tests to ensure proper installation and operation - both of which will be 10- to 15-seconds in duration, sometime late afternoon. This move is necessary because the land for the current location has changed hands. There will be no change, however, to the siren's effective coverage from the new location.
- #DYK? Residents may visit www.DonateStuff.com or call 1-866-835-5068 to schedule a pick-up of textiles for recycling! Previously, this was a curbside service with an automatic pick-up for textiles placed in "orange bags" on your normal trash day. Now, however, donations will need to be scheduled for pick-up.
- Join The Colony Parks & Recreation on Friday, April 30, for a new take on Movies In The Park! Sit back, relax and enjoy the show on a large outdoor inflatable screen at The Colony Five Star Complex (4100 Blair Oaks) featuring a showing of The Croods 2. Gates open at 7:15 p.m.; movies starts about 8:15 p.m. Social circles on the lawn allow space to bring your own blankets and chairs. Or choose to watch the movie from your car by tuning into 99.9FM. Call 972-625-1106 for more info.
- Last call for the 2021 Coach Cox's Kids Chase, set for Saturday, April 24, at The Colony Little League Complex on North Colony. This ever-popular event features a half-mile race for children ages 9 and under, and a one-mile course for children ages 10-12.
