City-Wide Spring Clean-up April 17

The City of The Colony and Republic Services will be hosting the annual City-Wide Spring Clean-Up from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 17, in the parking lot of Hawaiian Falls Water Park, 4400 Paige Road. With proof of residency, residents of The Colony may bring trash and refuse, such as large tree limbs, furniture, appliances, lumber, remodeling debris, fencing materials and scrap metal for disposal. Additionally, the following items also will be collected: small truck, car or SUV tires (up to eight total); batteries of all types; and various electronics. Enclosed box vans, trailers over 20 feet and/or contractors will not be allowed into the Spring Clean-Up. Additional limitations apply. Call 972-624-3131 for more details or visit our website.

The Colony Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a Community Job Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at The Colony Community Center, 5151 North Colony Blvd. Hiring managers will be on site for immediate interviews. Multiple positions available (part time and full time), including: Camp Counselor, Recreation Leader, Rec/Sports Management Internships, Athletics Leader, Lifeguard, Admissions Gate Clerk and Park Maintenance. Movies in the Park returns Friday, April 9

Join us for a free, fun, safe and socially distanced version of Movies In The Park at The Colony Five Star Complex! The movie will be "Scoob!," rated PG. Gates open at 7 p.m. The movie start time will be approximately 8 p.m. Watch from the lawn, or watch drive-in style from the comfort and safety of your car. Five Star is at 4100 Blair Oaks Drive. As of March 29, any adult 16 years old and up is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in Texas. Denton County Public Health (DCPH) is continuing to host mass-vaccination clinics at Texas Motor Speedway. For information or to register, visit www.DentonCounty.gov/vaccine.
Parks & Recreation has resumed accepting reservations for park pavilions as well as tent camping at Stewart Creek Park. Tent camping is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Park pavilion reservations can be submitted here. Also, the hours for Stewart Creek Park are now 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. For more information, call 972-625-1106.
