Early voting continues for Dec. 8 City Council Runoff Elections

Early voting by personal appearance for the Dec. 8, 2020, City of The Colony City Council Runoff Election is underway now through Friday, Dec. 4. Early voting and Election Day voting is at the City of The Colony Annex Building, 6804 Main St. Hours for early voting and Election Day are:

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2;
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 3-4; and Election Day, Dec. 8.

Golf week in The Colony has arrived!

We extend a warm welcome to all the LPGA players, tournament staff, volunteers, and everyone who makes the Volunteers of America Classic come together each year at the Golf Clubs at The Tribute. Tournament activities are underway, with players officially teeing off Dec. 3-6. Be sure to watch the action on the Golf Channel! Join us for the 39th annual Parade of Lights from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5! Like everything in 2020, this year's parade will be a little different. We're hosting a "reverse parade" at Stewart Creek Park (3700 Sparks Road), in which the parade floats are stationary and the spectators will drive through the parade route from the warmth and safety of their vehicles. Kick off the holidays by visiting The Colony Christmas Spectacular Light Show at Central Fire Station. The annual show will run nightly, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays, and 5:30 to 10:50 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, starting Dec. 5. View the show from across the street at Perryman Park (4930 South Colony Blvd.). Please be advised there will be no bleachers at the park due to the pandemic. We encourage attendees to watch the show from their vehicles. The show is choreographed to music so be sure to tune your radios to 99.9FM to hear the music. 'Tis the season for giving

In the spirit of #GivingTuesday (Dec. 1), we invite the community to drop off food donations in our City Hall lobby as part of a regional food drive hosted by our partners at CoServ. City Hall is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 7:30-11:30 a.m. Fridays. The food drive concludes Dec. 15. Additionally, we encourage those who can to make donations to local non-profits working to meet the needs of those in crisis due to the pandemic, such as the North Texas Community Food Pantry on South Colony Boulevard and/or Next Steps-The Colony. What else is In THE News?

The Colony Police Department asks you to help prevent package theft! There is a steep rise in package thefts this time of year, especially in our apartment-home community. Visit TCPD's Facebook for helpful tips.
On Nov. 30, the City's Public Works crews began a roughly two-month project to conduct various road repairs along Morning Star Drive. Most of the work will take place at the intersections of Legend Lane, Memorial, and Crescent Drive. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and brief delays along Morning Star during this time. Click here for more info.
#ICYMI: Republic Services has begun a process to assess and changeout old/damaged trash carts in the city. The process began with Tuesday’s routes. Replacement will continue on a weekly basis for a given day’s route until completed, at which time Republic will begin the next day’s route, and so on, until completed citywide. Registration for spring youth baseball in The Colony is underway now through Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. Online registration is available. Age groups are determined by the age of the player as of April 30, 2021. For more information, visit TheColonyYouthBaseball.com.
