Council to consider tax-rate decrease
During its regular meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, The Colony City Council will begin discussions regarding a proposed 1/2-cent decrease to the city's tax rate for the 2020-21 budget cycle. The rate is currently $0.66/$100 valuation for FY 2019-20. Residents are encouraged to watch the live-stream of Council proceedings on our website. The Council will also consider setting dates for future public hearings on the tax rate during Council meetings on Aug. 18 and Sept. 1, with final approval tentatively set for Sept. 15.
Also on Aug. 5, the Council will consider approving a resolution ordering the Nov. 3, 2020 City Council Election for Places 3-6. Anyone wishing to file as a candidate may do so now through 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
