Last call: Tickets remain for Daddy & Daughter Dance

Only days remain before The Colony Parks and Recreation Department's 15th annual Daddy & Daughter Dance on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Cascades Events Center! Tickets for daddies and their little angles (ages 3-12) are $35/couple. There are three dance times to choose from: 3 p.m.; 5 p.m.; and 7 p.m. G et your tickets today and arrive in your semi-casual attire to dance the night away amid sparkling tiaras and colorful balloons! Next TCPD Citizens Academy Class kicks off March 12

It's time for The Colony Police Department's spring Citizens Police Academy Class! This will be our 43rd class. The start date is March 12. Classes are held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday nights for 10 weeks in the municipal courtroom, 5151 North Colony Blvd. The class is a behind-the-scenes look at your police department and the men and women who work to make the city safe 24/7/365. Firehouse 4 now in service

The Colony Public Safety officials were joined by Mayor Joe McCourry and City Council members Joel Marks, Richard Boyer, and David Terre for a special hose-uncoupling ceremony marking the official opening of TCFD Firehouse No. 4 on Feb. 12 at the corner of Plano Parkway and Destination Drive. The new facility will primarily serve the SH121 Corridor, Austin Ranch, and Grandscape. New hotel project taking root at the Old American Golf Club

The Colony City Council recently approved a set of measures that would help facilitate development of a new hotel project in The Tribute. The hotel is tentatively set to have 126 rooms and will have four floors with a fifth that walks out to the 10th hole of the Old American Golf Club, home to the LPGA Volunteers of America Classic. It will include approximately 7,000 square feet of meeting space and conference rooms. For more, check out this news story from The Colony Courier-Leader.

Early voting for March primaries through Feb. 28

Early voting by personal appearance for the March 3, 2020, Party Primaries began on Tuesday, Feb. 18, and continues through Friday, Feb. 28. Hours vary by day. Locally, early voting will be held at the City of The Colony Annex, 6804 Main St. Voters may also vote at any Denton County early voting location. For hours and locations, visit www.VoteDenton.com. Please note, on Election Day, March 3, voters must cast ballots at locations determined by their individual precincts and party preferences. At its regular meeting on Feb. 18, The Colony City Council, in conjunction with the International House of Pancakes, proclaimed Feb. 25 as "IHOP's National Pancake Day and Shriners Hospitals for Children Day," during which residents are encouraged to make a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children;
Egret nesting-season is approaching! Residents of The Colony, especially those near neighborhoods previously affected, are encouraged to trim their trees.
