Citywide Fall Clean-Up set for Oct. 21

The City of The Colony and Republic Waste Services will be hosting the annual City-Wide Fall Clean-Up from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 21, in the parking lot of Hawaiian Waters.

Residents of The Colony may bring trash and refuse, such as large tree limbs, furniture, appliances, lumber, remodeling debris, fencing materials and scrap metal for convenient disposal.

New partner to oversee Five Star improvements

The City of The Colony and The Athletic Club (TAC) have entered into a long-term partnership to provide new and enhanced recreational, sports, fitness and entertainment programming at the Five Star Complex starting Sept. 1, 2023.

A presentation from representatives of TAC will be on the agenda for the City Council meeting on Aug. 15. The presentation will provide the community the opportunity to learn more about the city's new partnership with TAC.

City Council approves property tax Homestead Exemption

On June 6, 2023, The Colony City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the city’s Code of Ordinances that allows homeowners to claim an annual 1-percent or a minimum $5,000 homestead exemption on their property taxes, whichever is greater.

The exemption only applies to single-family homeowners who reside in their home in The Colony. It does not apply to commercial properties or investment/rental properties.
