TCAS to remain open by appointment only

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation, staff of The Colony Animal Services remain passionate about providing residents of the community with peace of mind while continuing to provide the best for the animals in our care.

It is also important that we offer potential adopters the opportunity to find a new companion pet and for the animals in our care to find a forever home.

That said, the shelter will continue to remain accessible to the public. However, beginning March 26, access to the shelter will be done through appointment-only. In keeping in compliance with the CDC’s guidance and Denton County’s declarations of no gathering of 10 people or more, we are continuing to allow guests in to view our adoptable pets, the ability to look for lost strays, and surrendering stray or owned pets however through an abundance of caution, these activities will now be done by appointment only.

Simply call the shelter at 972-370-9250 to schedule a time or timeframe during our normal operating hours to arrange an appointment to visit and we will await your arrival. We will also have a doorbell placed at the shelter door to alert staff members when you arrive. We understand that at this time children are out of school and although we would love to have as many visit the shelter on any given day, we ask that you not bring groups of children into the shelter at this time if there are no intentions of adopting.

Additionally, Animal Service Officers will still be responding to calls pertaining to animals during this time. For the safety of officers and our residents, we will be practicing social-distancing when responding to calls and encourage residents to file complaints either online or by phone. Please continue to follow the shelter on our social media outlets to view our adoptable animals and updates. We are very responsive on those outlets if you have any questions about specific animals. As the COVID-19 response continues to develop and change rapidly, we feel this is the best policy to implement at this time in order to protect visitors and staff at the shelter while continuing to provide services to residents of The Colony.
