It is with great sorrow to report the tragic passing of The Colony Police Sergeant David Fitzpatrick #171.

On Friday, June 7, 2019, Sgt. Fitzpatrick suffered a heart attack after working out and returning to his office. Sadly, on Monday, June 10, Sgt Fitzpatrick succumbed to his injury related to the heart attack he suffered while on duty. 

Sgt. Fitzpatrick worked for The Colony Police Department for 28 years and was its most-senior officer. He will be sorely missed by his family, fellow officers, and the countless residents of The Colony he has served since 1991. Any notes or cards for the family can be dropped off at the Police Records window 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday, 5151 North Colony Blvd.

A candlelight vigil at TCPD Headquarters was held Friday, June 14. Visitation was held Sunday, June 16, at Bill Deberry Funeral Directors, in Denton. Funeral services were held Monday, June 17, at the First Denton Church in Denton, followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Park, also in Denton.
