During a storm in 2014, the wrought-iron fence around the Hays Family plot in Bridges Cemetery was damaged by a fallen tree.
Thanks to funding from The Colony Community Development Corporation (CDC) and hard work from The Colony Parks & Recreation Department, the fence has been restored to its original state.
Never been to Bridges Cemetery? The Colony Public Library's Local History Committee opens the gates to the public during a handful of events throughout the year. The next event is from 10 a.m. to noon Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Bridges Cemetery is located at the northwest corner of Morning Star and Chesapeake.
