Suspect arrested in aggravated assault

TCPD patrol vehicle

At approximately 2 p.m. April 6, The Colony Police Officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of North Colony Blvd. in reference to an automobile/pedestrian accident.

Several citizens reported a child on a bike had been hit by a car. Officers arrived at the scene and observed bystanders rendering aid to a young juvenile.

The driver of the vehicle (adult male) traveled through the intersection of North Colony and Paige Road and intentionally struck the boy who was sitting on his bike waiting to enter the cross walk.

The victim was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threating injures. The vehicle driver did leave the scene but was shortly arrested by TCPD and booked into jail for Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon.

There is no additional information currently available and the investigation is ongoing.
