National Preparedness Month


September is National Preparedness Month. Disasters don't plan ahead but you can. Do you have a plan in the event of an emergency?

Also, keep in mind that the Outdoor Emergency Warning System is meant to alert people who may be outdoors that severe weather is approaching and they should seek shelter immediately. Fire Chief Scott Thompson says it is important to note that outdoor warning sirens are not intended to warn people who are indoors. “Outdoor sirens are not a reliable means of notifying people who are in their homes and they should not be considered as a means of early indoor notification,” he said. In the event of severe weather, residents are encouraged to monitor local weather media for the latest information.
