The long-awaited reconstruction of the intersection at Blair Oaks and Memorial drives began in early July 2018. As of Aug. 13, traffic patterns have changed to account for ongoing progress.
Memorial Drive is down to one lane in each direction. Northbound Blair Oaks is also down to one lane. Southbound Blair Oaks is closed to thru traffic at Memorial. Southbound motorists will be detoured at Cougar Alley.
In addition to much-needed reconstruction of the roadways and the addition of new turn lanes, this $1.8 million project includes drainage improvements, water and wastewater system adjustments, and signal/street light installation.Given the extensive work required, construction during the school year was unavoidable.
Motorists should expect delays in that area and seek alternate routes if possible. More information is available from the Engineering Department. The project is estimated to be completed by August 2019.
