A little after 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, The Colony Fire Department responded to a major structure fire in the 5400 block of North Shore Drive.
Upon arrival, units encountered a fully involved fire encompassing a residence and a cabana structure.
The home is located near the lake, some distance from hydrants on the road surface. There were also complications with nearby power lines requiring the power company to arrive and shut it off. Fire Chief Scott Thompson commended his personnel for overcoming difficult conditions in fighting the blaze, which was extinguished by 2:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19.
Mutual aid was provided by units from Carrollton, Frisco, Lewisville, and Little Elm fire departments.
The homeowner was at home at the time of the fire but exited safely. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but officials do not believe it is suspicious in nature.
