At approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, May 31, a The Colony Police Department patrol vehicle was struck by a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Paige Road and State Highway 121.
The patrol vehicle was traveling southbound on Paige and had emergency lights and siren activated. The patrol vehicle was occupied by two officers who were responding to an emergency call involving a person attempting to force their way into an apartment. The patrol vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a vehicle that was eastbound on the SH121 service road.
The patrol vehicle rolled over onto the roof. The officers were trapped in their patrol vehicle. Several civilians helped the officers escape the patrol vehicle. Both of the officers and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital by The Colony Fire Department, where they were treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way-Emergency Vehicle.
