In conjunction with Plano FD and six other regional departments, The Colony Fire Department participated in a series of high-rise drills March 6 to April 11 at a newly constructed building along SH121.
The scenario involved a fire on the seventh floor. Crews had to locate the fire, work through the building systems, search and operate command, all the while coordinating closely with the other participating fire departments.
Each drill ran for approximately three hours. TCFD logged close to 180 man-hours of training. Drills such as these become more important as The Colony grows not only out but up. The Colony Fire Department crews prepared for three months prior to the drills and command staff were pleased with how they performed.
