KTCB offers 'Planting for Pollinators' class

Monarch Butterfly

Did you know that over 75 percent of our flowers and crops are pollinated by insects and animals? Pollinators are critical to our food chain but they also provide beauty and enjoyment as well.

Join Keep The Colony Beautiful and local Texas Master Naturalist Donna Cole at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at City Hall (6800 Main St.) for “Planting for Pollinators,” a class to learn how you can support biodiversity and sustainability in your own garden. The class will teach about easy-to-grow native and adapted plants that will attract hummingbirds, bats, butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects.

Keep The Colony Beautiful is offering this class as part of the Mayor’s Challenge, an initiative designed to help Monarch butterflies migrate along Lewisville Lake, in addition to establishing Monarch Waystations along the Shoreline Trail.

The class will be held in the City Council Chambers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Neighborhood Enhancement Officer Danny Dill.
