Adoption Procedures
The Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapters 826 and 828, requires that all adopted animals are to be sterilized and rabies vaccinated.
To adopt an animal, you must be at least 18 years of age with a valid ID.
Animal Services cannot guarantee the health, temperament, or specific breed of the adopted animal.
Animal Services will allow for the adopted animal to be returned within seventy-two (72) hours subsequent to the adoption free of charge but will not receive compensation for the adoption fee. After the seventy-two (72) hour return period, surrendering the adopted animal to the shelter in the city that you reside will be required.
