Public Access Computers

The Library offers free public use of 24 Internet accessible computers that also have Office 2010 programs.

Two black and white printers are available, as well as a color printer. Printing costs are: black and white $0.10 per page; color $0.40 per page. The first $0.50 worth of printing each day is free.

Library staff will assist in locating websites and meeting information needs. Assistance is available to those looking for employment information on the Internet.

Users log on to the Library's public access computers with their library cards. Visitors to the city of The Colony may access the computers with a guest card provided by the reference desk staff.

Wireless Internet Access

Free wireless access is available throughout the Library.

3-D printing

The Library has a Makerbot 5th generation 3-D printer for public use. Users must make an appointment (972-625-1900, ext. 3) to have their 3D file reviewed and bring their STL file in on a flash drive to the appointment. They can also find pre-designed 3D object files on Thingiverse.com. Printing costs are $0.10 a gram of filament used, with a minimum charge of $1. At the appointment staff will be able to give an estimate of time and cost. Call 972-625-1900, ext. 3 for more information.

In-Library Access

All of the TexShare and locally funded databases can be accessed in the Library.

Remote Access

Cardholders using computers outside of the Library have access to TexsShare databases, a rich compilation of online databases, as well as to online resources funded by the Library or through grants. These include downloadable and streaming books, films, music and magazines listed in the Digital Library page, online classes and tutorials at the Adult Online Learning page, and a variety of interesting and useful online materials for all ages on our E-Resources page. Most resources require users to log in with their Library card identification.
