Criminal Investigations
The Criminal Investigation Division investigates all crimes reported to The Colony Police Department to include property crimes, crimes against persons, child crimes, financial crimes, and any offense that occurs at our local schools. Detectives in CID are divided into two major units: Property Crimes or Crimes Against Persons. There are seven School Resource Officers (SROs) that are assigned to every school within The Colony. Each detective and officer receives specialized training in their particular field to better investigate cases assigned to them. The goal of each detective and officer is to make contact with the victim within three business days of being assigned to a case, and to then regularly communicate with everyone involved with the case until it is completed.

Their is one assigned to the Prestwick STEM Academy and one assigned to Strike Middle School located on Lebanon Rd. the SRO's mission is to serve as a liaison between the students, teachers, administration and the Police Department.

- Property and Evidence Room
Our property and evidence room exists to ensure every item that has been impounded is kept safe and can be quickly located for trials or for release to the owner after a case has been disposed of. This property includes items that have been taken as evidence in a crime, property that has been taken for safekeeping that has no evidentiary value, and items that were found by a third party. If you are attempting to get property back, please contact the property specialist to make an appointment.
- Police Chaplains
Our police chaplains are local pastors who have volunteered to serve as chaplains for The Colony Police Department. Their goal is to provide assistance to both officers and the community for a variety of calls. Community services that are provided by our chaplains include being a positive link between police and the community, making contact with victims and their family during traumatic situations, and providing counseling services as needed. Chaplains regularly participate in ride-outs with officers to foster relationships and are able to respond to death investigations or any other traumatic calls to assist both officers and the public.
- Crime Victim Liaison
The Crime Victim Liaison exists to make contact with victims of certain crimes and make sure that they have as much information as possible to successfully navigate the criminal justice system. These crimes include victims of sexual assault, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, human trafficking, injury to a child, or any other crime that results in any type of personal injury or death. The Liaison reviews all the incoming cases and makes repeated efforts to contact the victim using the information provided in the original report. If you are a victim of any crime listed above and have not been contacted by the Liaison, please email to get more information.
