Stewart Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant was built in the late 1980s to serve the City of The Colony. The original treatment plant capacity was 1.5 million gallons per day. Through the years with city growth, the treatment plant has expanded multiple times to accommodate the population.
As of 2020 the treatment plant has a capacity of treating 4.5 million gallons per day and serves the entire city. The treatment plant is owned and operated by the City of The Colony.
