Lost & Found Pets

Can't find your lost pet? First, contact Animal Services as soon as possible to see if we have picked it up. If we haven't, then you'll want to file a Lost Pet Report with the animal's description (including any identifying marks), as well as the location you lost it and your name and contact information. We'll make every attempt to contact you if it comes into the shelter, but we do recommend that you come in and visually inspect the animals at the shelter, as you will be the best identifier of your animal. This should be done every two days. We can only hold animals for three days (72 hours) as strays before placing them up for adoption.

Lost Pet

If you are reporting your pet as lost and Animal Services locates it, you will be contacted based on the information you submit on the form, so please be as accurate and complete as possible.

Found Pet

If you are reporting a found animal and would like Animal Services to pick it up please call (972) 370-9250.

If you would like to hold onto the animal until the owners are found, please fill out the form. The information you provide will be given to the owners to contact you.

You must contact Animal Services about found animals and file a report as soon as possible. It is not legal to assume ownership without notifying Animal Services, enabling the owner the opportunity to reclaim their pet.

Finding Your Animal at the Shelter

In the event that you find your animal at the shelter, we will need a copy of the current rabies vaccination certificate (we cannot accept rabies tags as verification since they contain no description of the animal). If the animal is out of date on the rabies vaccination, you'll need to get an appointment scheduled with a vet to have that taken care of. Then you will have four days to get the procedure done and seven days to send the records back to us.

If your pet is missing or if you have located an animal that is not yours, please complete a lost or found report. Once this form is submitted, Animal Services is notified during normal business hours.
