Welcome to our National Night Out page. In a city that has been rated as one of the top ten most desirable cities in the Dallas Metroplex, our citizens, actively concerned about their neighborhood with a watchful eye towards crime, are the most effective weapons our police department has in the fight to eliminate crime from our city. Our goal each year has been to increase the number of neighborhood block parties and in doing so, unite neighborhoods and hopefully increase the number of active crime watch groups during the year. Each year since we began, has been a success, and National Night Out has proven to be one of the most proactive and warmly received events that we sponsor.
Our challenge has been to find a means to bind our young community together. National Night Out was our choice to accomplish this goal with our success being evident. National Night Out has helped introduce neighbors to each other and made our neighborhoods more cohesive viable units of our city. There is no doubt that our citizens' sense of ownership and their community spirit has increased as result of our community participation in National Night Out and we will continue these efforts.
National Night Out has also joined in the effort by partnering with the NCIDP (National Child Identification Program) to increase awareness for child safety. The FBI has partnered with the NCIDP with the goal of providing inkless fingerprint identification and DNA sample kits across the United States. National Night Out, the NCIDP and the FBI want to set a record on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 for the most ID kits distributed within a single day.
