Explorer Team
State Competition

On Saturday, April 4 th, 2009, members of The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post #5151 participated in the State Explorer Competition sponsored by the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor's Association at the University of Texas at Dallas. The Colony Police Explorer Post placed in three events, which are as follows:

The Competition held at UTD was open to Post's throughout Texas and other states. Approximately 70 teams from approximately 30 to 40 Departments participated in the competition and The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post competed against teams from Post's such as Dallas PD, San Antonio PD, Ft. Worth PD, Plano PD, Lewisville PD, and Tulsa, OK PD.

2009 Red Oak SWAT Competition

In May 2009, members of The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post #5151 participated in the 2009 Red Oak SWAT Competition in Red Oak, TX. The Colony's Explorer Post was made up of 3 teams, who each competed in four police SWAT related scenarios. The Colony Police Explorers had to act as if they were the Special Weapons and Tactics Teams called to the scene of an emergency which a normal police officer may not be able to handle on their own due to its complexity and danger. The Colony's Explorer Post placed in a total of 4 events, which are listed below:

The Competition held in Red Oak was open to Post's throughout Texas. Teams from approximately 10 Departments participated in the competition and The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post competed against teams from all over the state of Texas.

Plano X Competition

On Saturday, November 14th, 2009 members of The Colony Police Explorer Post #5151 participated in an advanced skills competition held in Plano, TX called "Plano X". Explorers from The Colony Police Department participated in ten different scenarios, ranging from a Robbery in Progress, Suicidal Person, Gang Fight, and a Narcotics Investigation among others.

The Colony Police Explorers competed against nine other teams from departments such as San Antonio PD, Dallas PD, Allen PD, Coppell PD, Forest Hill PD, Richland Hills PD, Irving PD, and UT Dallas.

The Colony Police Explorer Post earned a second place trophy for its achievements during this competition. San Antonio PD received first place and Coppell received third place.

Once again, The Colony Police Explorers were prepared and capable of beating teams from departments such as Dallas PD and Irving PD who have bigger Posts with more members and large training budgets.
