On Saturday, April 5 th , 2008, members of The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post #5151 participated in the State Explorer Competition sponsored by the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor's Association at the University of Texas at Dallas. The Colony's Explorer Post was made up of 12 members comprising 3 teams, who competed in 12 different events. Of these 12 events, The Colony's Explorer Post placed in seven events, which are as follows:

The Competition held at UTD was open to Post's throughout Texas and other states. Approximately 70 teams from approximately 30 to 40 Departments participated in the competition and The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post competed against teams from Post's such as Dallas PD, San Antonio PD, Ft. Worth PD, Plano PD, Lewisville PD, Tulsa, OK PD, and Phoenix, AZ PD.
Participating in this Competition was good experience for some Explorers who had not yet been to a competition as well as preparing them for the upcoming participation at the National Competition being held July 21 st -26 th , 2008 in Ft. Collins, CO.
Overall, the Explorers did better than expected due to a majority of them being new to the Post and not yet having the experience of competing.

In October 2008, members of The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post #5151 participated in the 2008 Alamo Area Council Law Enforcement Explorer Competition in San Antonio, TX. The Colony's Explorer Post was made up of 1 team, who competed in four police related scenarios. The Colony's Explorer Post placed in one event, which is listed below:
