In July 2007, members of The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post #5151 participated in the Bay City Explorer Competition of a Lifetime sponsored by the Bay City, TX Police Department in Bay City, TX. The Colony's Explorer Post was made up of 8 members comprising 2 teams, who competed in numerous police related scenarios. The Colony's Explorer Post placed in nine events, which led to a First Place Overall Post standing and a Third Place Overall Team standing. The Colony’s placement in events are as follows:

The Competition held in Bay City was open to Post's throughout Texas and other states. Teams from approximately 40-50 Departments participated in the competition and The Colony Police Department's Explorer Post competed against teams from all over the state of Texas and other states, including Mississippi and Colorado, as well.
Unexpectedly, The Colony Police Explorer Post won the coveted First Place Overall Post for the second time in a row.
