Alcohol and Substance Awareness Program

The Colony Alcohol and Substance Awareness Program is a comprehensive education program designed to prevent substance abuse and violence by educating children about the threats and consequences associated with these activities.

The ASAP curriculum focuses on building self-esteem, taking responsibility for one's behavior, resisting peer pressure, and making responsible decisions. Other important benefits the program offers students are the opportunity to gain trustworthy adult friends, develop a positive attitude toward law enforcement personnel, and to acquire greater respect for the law.

The ASAP curriculum was developed to be presented to school children by specially trained, uniformed police officers. The Colony Police Department currently offers the elementary fifth grade curriculum. Through ASAP we have the opportunity to reach and provide the youth of The Colony with the knowledge they need to resist peer pressure to use illegal drugs and alcohol, join gangs, and participate in violence. A.S.A.P. works with the help of parents, school, and police. Together, we can make The Colony drug-free.

If you have any questions about the ASAP program, call 972-625-8273 and ask for Officer Jim Slack.
