Tired of trying to remember to drop off the payment for your utility bill? Tired of spending your time, gasoline and postage to pay your utility bill? The City of The Colony offers the FREE service of automatic debit payment of utility bills by bank draft. This service is provided at no charge!
We will send a pre-notification to your financial institution for the first bill after we receive your request to draft. You will continue to receive the utility bill as usual. You will need to make payment in your usual manner until the words “PAID BY DRAFT” appear on each portion of the bill. From this point on, you will not be assessed any late payment penalty fees because your payment can never be late.
The draft transfer is sent to the bank two (2) working days prior to the due date and will be drafted from your bank account on the date the utility bill is due, or the next working day if the bank is not open for business on that day. This will allow you the opportunity to examine your bill and post to your checkbook register prior to the draft being charged against your account. If the amount being billed should be questioned, you must contact the Customer Service Department to check readings for error prior to the draft being drawn on your account.
If you wish to begin this service, please bring a personal or business check to the Customer Service Department and complete the “Authorization Agreement for Bank Drafting” form. The Utility Customer Service office is located at City Hall, 6800 Main Street, and is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you cannot make it to the Utility Office during business hours, call our Utility Customer Service office at 972-625-2741 and we will be happy to email, mail or fax you the appropriate forms.
